10 Things You Love About You

Write down 10 things you love about yourself.
Now.
Don’t overthink.
Just write.

You don’t have to share it. You don’t even have to keep it. Just think it. Write it. Then read it back to yourself.

Here, let me get you started…

  1. you are perfect as you are
  2. you are beautiful

Now keep going…

If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably spent many a moment thinking of things you don’t like about yourself. Things you want to change. Things you’ve done wrong. Things you feel guilty about. Things you wish could be different.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying we don’t need our inner critic… we do! It helps us to realise when we have made a mistake and drives us to find a solution to whatever we need to resolve. However, there’s criticism and there’s cruelty. When our inner critic goes rogue and brings out all its finely tuned malice, it knows exactly how to hurt us.

It’s so easy to let that cruel inner critic form the basis of our self-judgement and self-worth. In recognising when it’s your cruel inner critic speaking, you can start to rationalise the negativity you feel towards yourself and recognise that what it’s saying just isn’t true.

So, now and again, have a go at this activity. Give yourself just a minute or two to create a list of things you love about yourself. If you can think of more than 10… even better!

I’m sure if you imagined your favourite person (friend, partner, child, or maybe even a pet) you could think of a long list of amazing things you love about them. So, it’s time to turn this attention to yourself.

I’ll say it again…

  1. You are perfect as you are.
  2. You are beautiful.

Now, over to you…
